Why is the skin’s pH so important?

Your skin’s pH level is essential for its well-being. When the pH is slightly acidic, around 5, your skin is in balance. But as soon as it gets in contact with water, detergents, sanitizers etc. the skin’s pH is affected in an alkaline direction.

The outermost layer of the skin is a very fine and vital film called the acid mantle – it’s the skin’s
immune defense. The acid mantle protects the skin from e.g. dryness and irritation. As the name indicates, the acid mantle is naturally acidic. So, when the acid mantle is affected in an alkaline
direction by water or other substances, it gets out of balance.

When the skin’s pH is affected in an alkaline direction, HERO brings the skin’s pH back at the
ideal value around 5 – and restores the acid mantle.

"I concur with the enthusiasm. I have dry skin, eczema on the neck, elbows etc. and mild rosacea on the face that I am in treatment for. I have been using HERO daily for the last 7 weeks, and it really relieves my rosacea and moisturises the dry and itchy places. Thank you for a lovely product that also has a reasonable price."
