Your skin is your leather
Keeping your skin soft & firm
I know! It’s not a nice way of putting it! Calling the skin “leather”, or comparing our delicate skin to a boot, but I love metaphors – they make everything easier to understand.
The skin can absolutely be compared to the leather of a boot; I think most of us prefer boots that are not brand new. You should be able to see and feel that they’ve been worn.
What I’m saying is that I don’t aspire to have skin like a child. It’s okay that you can see that I’ve lived a bit, but it’s really important to me that the “leather” – or skin – is well-cared-for.
Just like the boot, you want to see that it’s been worn, but the leather of the boot must be well-looked-after; dirt should be removed and the leather should be soft and supple.
Nourishing, moisturising skincare
The skin is the body’s largest organ. It’s a spreading organ and the body’s defence against external factors. But at the same time, the skin absorbs much of what we put on it, so the choice of ingredients in our skincare is very important.
/ A good cleansing routine is essential for beautiful, healthy skin.
/ Gentle exfoliation of the skin removes grey, dead skin cells.
/ Healing, softening skincare is paramount.
I love face and body oils. Oils make the skin soft and firm and supply it with vital nutrients. Oils are excellent for massaging the skin. It’s almost difficult to stop yourself from massaging the connective tissue once your fingers and oil are on the skin.
