Karmameju’s gentle body dry brush is designed for use without water or soap. Use before showering or bathing as part of your daily cleansing routine.
Begin with light, gentle brush strokes and adapt to match the sensitivity of your skin. Commencing with the palms of your hands or the soles of your feet. Brush inwards from the outermost points of your body, working rhythmically in long, straight, smooth and gentle strokes towards the heart.
When brushing the neck, move from the shoulders and up, as you are above the heart, gravity will lead the blood naturally back to the heart.
Brush the entire surface of your body, avoiding the tender skin of the face, breasts and décolletage. Always brush towards the heart.
After 3-5 minutes of body brushing you can shower or bathe. A cool rinse to activate blood circulation and promote a healthy glow is recommended. After showering, buff body vigorously with a dry towel. Complete treatment with Karmameju skincare products.
Remember to flush away the toxins released through brushing by drinking plenty of water every day. Any new routine requires time to show results, so be patient and remain consistent with your brushing ritual.
For an easy and effective cleaning, we recommend to take care of your dry brush with TINY cleansing tool for dry brushes, which removes dirt and dead skin-cells from all types of Karmameju dry brushes. TINY cleansing tool is designed to be used daily and for maintenance on a weekly/ monthly basis, after use of RECHARGE.
Alternatively, you can push your thumb through the bristles to ensure that all skin particles have been removed. You can also use a comb to brush through the bristles, as well as tapping the brush hard on a clean, even surface. We recommend using a separate brush for each member of your household.
CAUTION: Do not use if allergic to horsehair. Do not brush if your skin or BUFF is damp or wet. Take care not to brush too hard and avoid irritated, bruised, sensitive or broken skin, taking extra caution around raised moles or abrasions. Avoid the delicate skin of the face and décolletage. A slight flush to the skin is normal. Loose bristles may occur, remove any copper alloy that is not level with the rest of the brush.

Negative ions increase the transportation of oxygen to our cells and body tissue and increase energy levels
Energy can be defined in terms of strength, vitality, vigour and the sustained activity it powers, whether mental or physical. It is energy that gives our bodies the capacity to function and it is energy that is intrinsic to what we call 'quality of life'. Whether in its joyful abundance or, perhaps more commonly, by its detrimental absence.
The human body utilises several different kinds of energy: chemical, mechanical, electromagnetic and electrical. As you probably know, electricity is a fundamentally natural force made up of negative and positive particles that both attract and resist 'charged particles' that manifest as movement or what we call electrical current. Electrical energy plays a critical role in the proper functioning of the body.
Ions are the key to the creation of electric energy within the body. Simply defined, they are atoms or molecules in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, giving the atom a net positive or negative electrical charge. Ions with an extra electron are known as 'anions' and possess a negative charge. Those with fewer electrons than protons carry a positive charge and are called 'cations'.
/ Negative ions
Ions occur naturally and are created through friction - often between the air and water. Negative ions have long been known to have beneficial effects. The elevated sense of well-being experienced near a mountain waterfall or by the crashing waves of the ocean is a good example and the result of thousands of negative ions impacting on human biochemistry. Inhaled through the air we breathe and the water we drink, we thrive on negatively charged oxygen ions.
/ Positive ions
Positive ions have the opposite effect. Produced by electronic equipment, mobile phones, WiFi and bluetooth devices, positive ions collect in places where the air is stale and dust settles - in windowless offices, on TV screens and in front of computer monitors. It is easy to imagine that they are harmful to our health.
/ Free radicals
Our bodies are under constant attack from chemicals known as 'free radicals'. Generated by our external environment, and within the body itself, they effectively 'steal' an electron from another atom or molecule in order to become electrically 'stable' and inflict some serious damage to cells and tissues in the process.
Introducing antioxidants into the body is one solution that effectively counteracts this cell degradation. Naturally occurring chemicals found in fruits and vegetables, antioxidants readily 'give up' a spare electron, thus neutralising free radicals and preventing them from doing their damage. While the introduction of antioxidants is often via diet, this process can also be encouraged by other means - like IONIC body brushing.
/ IONIC body brushing Dry brushing with the Karmameju ionic body brush creates negative electric ions directly onto the skin through natural friction. The highly conductive composition of the copper alloy bristles allows these ions to be absorbed transdermally. Providing your body with an excess of negative ions means providing it with a plentiful supply of 'spare' electrons, ready to neutralise the onslaught of free radicals we combat every day and prevent the inflammation and 'disease' they cause.
"I am 41 and my skin has never looked better. It is superb for arthritis pain. Dry brushing my inflammatory joints – has increased my blood circulation in the colder months. I am a nurse and have recommended dry brushing for patients with arthritis." - Maria, 41 years, Copenhagen
"I have always had sebaceous glands on my upper arms, but after I have stated dry brushing, they have disappeared. I have tried everything, but this works." - Emma, 23 years old, Copenhagen
"Dry brushing with BUFF in combination with, MILD body oil 02 is real pampering (especially when there are no kids around to disturb). My skin has never been more soft." - Anja, 34, New York
Skin brushing has been practiced for centuries all over the world and by many different cultures. It is a simple, easy and inexpensive way to revitalise your beauty routine - as well as your skin and energy levels. Used regularly, your body brushing will get results fast. Read on to find out more about its many benefits.
/ Boost energy
Feeling tired, listless and lacking in energy have become the norm for many. But this need not be the case. Lethargy, fatigue and a general lack of vitality can indicate that the lymphatic system is blocked, sluggish or just plain overwhelmed by stress and environmental toxins. Stimulating the lymphatic system by body brushing can get things moving again.
/ Stimulate lymph flow
The lymphatic system is an essential part of our circulatory system, with one of its primary functions being to filter the blood. A complex network of lymphatic vessels transports the clear fluid known as 'lymph' around the body, filtering, draining and recycling as it travels. Healthy lymph flow is therefore crucial to its effectiveness.
/ Cleanse and detoxify
Lymph nodes, dotted throughout the entire body along the lymphatic pathways, filter and purify the lymph fluid, returning clean blood cells to the body and breaking down pathogens and toxins. As well as cleansing and detoxifying, the lymph system reclaims digested fats and proteins, circulating them around the body, helping to increase energy.
/ Deep Down
While the superficial lymph vessels terminate just below the outer layer of skin, they flow back into the body's deeper lymphatic vessels. Any congestion at superficial lymphatic level will result in blockages deep down, so skin brushing is an excellent way to stimulate the activity of the entire lymphatic system by working on the surface only.
Skin brushing can be especially beneficial to those who are more sedentary, whether through age, disability or illness. One session of vigorous skin brushing can promote a similar level of lymph flow as achieved by 20 minutes of exercise, helping to purge toxins from the body. As long as you always brush towards the heart, you can even do it sitting down.
Skin brushing helps to remove old, dead skin and opens the pores, encouraging detoxification and improving skin tone. The gentle stimulation of the skin's connective top layers promotes the production of collagen and elastin fibres so body brushing can even help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
/ Healing Properties of Negative Ions
/Recovery from physical exhaustion or fatigue - by increasing oxygen levels in the blood and facilitating more efficient oxygen utilisation, negative ions help accelerate recovery from fatigue.
/ Stabilising brain function - by promoting abundant oxygen levels in the blood, negative ions help normalise brain function, resulting in relaxation and calmness.
/ Blood purification - by increasing the levels of calcium and sodium in the blood stream, negative ions help restore a healthy (slightly alkaline) pH-balance to the blood.
/ Increasing metabolism - by stimulating the exchange of electronic substances in cell walls, negative ions help increase metabolism.
/ Strengthening the immune system - high levels of negative ions promote production of globulin in the blood, resulting in stronger resistance to illness.
/ Balancing the autonomic nervous system - negative ions can calm and relax taut nerves by balancing the opposing sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system.
/ Promoting better digestion - by counteracting over-arousal of the sympathetic nervous system, negative ions help ease tension in the stomach and intestines, promoting the production of digestive enzymes and enhancing digestion.
/ Cell rejuvenation - negative ions help revitalise cell metabolism, enhancing the vitality of muscle tissue and strengthening internal organs.
/ For overall health - negative ions can rejuvenate and revitalise all of the body's systems and cells, promoting a stronger overall constitution
